OVERVIEW
The IPM-DIO-24 is a programmable discrete I/O module with specialized features for precise timing applications and is available with 24 differential I/O lines. The module was designed to meet specific needs for control and acquisition of discrete signals characterized by a differential electric signal in accordance with standard RS-422.
Each of the 24 lines is programmable as input or output. The signal transitions are stored in the FIFO memory. Each datum in memory is accompanied by a control word. This control word makes it possible to set the precise moment of an output transition and also allows the precise time-tagging of the input transitions.
The IPM-DIO-24 module has inputs for synchronization with
IRIG-B signals. The IRIG-B inputs include AM, digital encoding and 1-PPS. The AM signal input can be used alone or in combination with the 1-PPS signal for better accuracy.
Carrier Board Support
The functionality of the IPM-DIO-24 is further enhanced by the power of MAX Technologies’ line of intelligent multi- platform (PCI, CPCI and PXI) carrier boards. All modules and carrier boards are synchronized and time correlated to 32-bit microsecond-resolution.
Software Support
The MX-Foundation library provides high-level abstraction of hardware and allows to easily control mixed protocols and I/O modules on one or multiple carrier boards.
